I will try to explain you this thing in very simple layman terms.
The Diamond is one of the most costly substance on earth.
The only substance where the raw material cost is more then its processing cost similar to Gold or any precious metals. It is well known to everyone that diamond is governed by 4 “C”, Carat,Cut,Clarity and Color.
The planning of a polish stone inside the rough diamond has been recently taken over by Computerized machines.
Till date , Carat (i.e the weight gain) , Cut was beautifully analyzed by the machines , but purity judgment is the most complicated - which can make a drastic value jump in terms of 10 times to 100 times the profit was a bit mystery because of the very nature of diamond internal reflection / refraction property .
if any bad spots (called as Inclusions) Cracks , impurities are seen there are 100% chances that it may be an illusion similar to mirage and the actual location may be at the different location which make the life of manual planning most difficult.
Now we came up with a “M-Box” – A Microscopic 5 Axis motion (which replaces human Hand-to navigate the diamond with a Robotic arm in almost all direction ) as if we are rotating the diamond in hand and then magnify the same by around 115 times to see the inclusions inside the diamond.
The operator has now to just click – and the inclusion are almost correctly located.
Then after a complex algorithm is run to find the best shape / cut / weight of the diamond going through the table of price and the best pairs of the diamond are sought and laser marked by the machine.
This will revolunize the diamond industry as this is the most complicated process.
