Perth, Western Australia; Adelaide, South Australia; and Sydney, New South Wales. The Australian music label Hidden Shoal Recordings is proud to announce the signing of Australian post-rock dreampop duo City Of Satellites.
In City Of Satellites’ music, raw guitar tones, rich vocal melodies and dynamic percussive rhythms dance and weave around layers of vintage synthesizers, textures and sequences, creating ethereal yet structured electronic pop music. The band flesh out the elegant skeleton of post-rock with the warm, melodic muscle of shoegaze rock, mustering an all-enveloping sound reminiscent of The Cure, Mogwai and M83.
Initially struck by the challenges of incompatible technologies and living in different parts of the country, Jarrod Manuel (vocals, guitars, synthesizers)
Thomas and Jarrod initially began writing music inspired by the shoegazer, stoner and grunge heroes of their high-school days, but over time the influence of the ‘80s music of their formative years has become more pronounced and more deeply explored.
City Of Satellites’ debut EP The Spook will be released on 25th November, 2008 through Hidden Shoal Recordings. The EP will round out what has been an amazing year of releases for the label, including new signings Fall Electric, and fantastic new albums from Hidden Shoal mainstays Sankt Otten and Slow Dancing Society
