On Tuesday, The Joomla Development Working Group announced the release of version 1.5.7. The Joomla DWG said, “Although this release contains a number of bug fixes and other improvements, it is a security release, and as such users are strongly urged to upgrade immediately.”
While some busy webmasters simply took their sites offline until they had time to update Joomla manually, members of the Intellispire Joomla community were able to update their sites with just a few clicks of the mouse. It took them only a few minutes to complete the update process on multiple websites.
“As security threats become more sophisticated, the global security community must combine its resources and work together to provide maximum security protections to worldwide Internet users,” said George Stathakopoulos, general manager of security engineering and communications at Microsoft. “No one organization can counter online attacks alone. Therefore, we must use the combined strength of the industry, partners, customers, other developers and public organizations to build a more secure environment for everyone.”
The Installer / Updater was developed with ease of security updates in mind. With a few mouse clicks, security updates are quickly and easily applied to any website using Joomla. The ease and speed with which sites can be updated using this software insures the security updates quickly adopted by more sites, thus increasing the security for all.
