Sept. 11, 2008 - PRLog -- WEYMOUTH HILLS, ST. MAARTEN – Bishop Michael Greenaway, Pastor of the Victory Temple Church of God of Prophecy in Weymouth Hills was appointed the new Regional Overseer of the churches in the Leeward Islands as of September 1.
The appointment came during the recently concluded 95th General Assembly of COGOP in Nashville, Tennessee in August. Bishop Greenaway will oversee the work on the islands of St. Maarten/St. Martin, Anguilla, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua & Barbuda, Montserrat, Dominica, Suriname and the French West Indies.

Bishop Greenaway is deeply honored to accept the appointment which will allow him to continue to do the work that has driven him since he felt the call of God on his life at the age of 19.  His first pastoral position was at the age of 22 on the island of Nevis. Since then he has worked in Antigua, Montserrat, Tortola, and St. Maarten.  He was ordained Bishop in 1986 and was appointed District Overseer of Anguilla and St. Maarten/St. Martin in 1984. In 2001 he joined the Regional Presbyters’ team to assist the former Regional Overseer, Bishop Ewing Dorsett, to manage the growth of the churches.

His unmatched commitment to spreading the gospel gave him the courage to take the small membership of the Cole Bay Church of God of Prophecy and launch a building project in Weymouth Hills that they were able to build debt free. The facility now houses the Victory Christian Academy and other community-related programs are in the works.

The bishop is ably supported by his wife of 38 years Annetta Greenaway, an educator for more than 40 years and who currently teaches at the Charles Leopold Bell Primary School.  He is the father of four and has nine grandchildren.

Bishop Greenaway will continue to pastor the local church but will have to travel extensively to mobilize the work in the region. He has been calling the church leadership to prayer and fasting to encourage a heart for evangelism and preparing for the return of the Lord.
