Mrs. Cheney will give a presentation to students in the Independence Ballroom from 10:30 a.m – 11: a.m. before signing copies of the book on the Main Floor from 11:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. The book’s illustrator, Greg Harlin, will also be onsite.
Just in time for Constitution Day, We the People: The Story of Our Constitution will be released on September 9 and is one of Mrs. Cheney’s many published works. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the Independence Store. Mrs. Cheney is a New York Times bestselling author of: America: A Patriotic Primer and A is for Abigail: An Almanac of Amazing American Women, among many others. Over one million copies of these books are in print. Her work has long emphasized the idea that all Americans should be familiar with our nation’s story.
On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was signed by thirty-nine brave men who changed the course of history. Constitution Day was established as an official holiday in 2004.
This is just one of many ways that Independence Visitor Center is inviting tourists and locals to experience a piece of Philadelphia and the its vital role in the country’s history. Guests are encouraged to step inside the Visitor Center to learn even more about all there is to do in the city and region.
