Harlingen, Texas - At the end of the 2007-2008 show season, a record-breaking number of cats and kittens from Europe, Latin America and Japan claimed the Top Twenty International titles awarded by The International Cat Association (TICA).
When the show season ended April 30, 2008, forty percent of the championship cats which earned Top 20 International titles were from outside North America. In addition, over ten percent of the Top 20 International Alters were from Europe.
Headquartered in Harlingen, Texas, TICA is the world’s largest genetic registry of purebred cats. TICA also registers household cats and kittens, and allows them to compete for the same titles and regional and international awards as the pedigreed cats.
TICA is one of the world’s largest sanctioning body for cat shows held across North America, South America, Asia and Europe. More than 200 active regional clubs host shows in Brazil, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, China, Spain, France, Scotland, Argentina, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Columbia, Costa Rica, The Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. The newest club was organized in Finland and will host its first show on September 27-28, 2008.
