Maine Coon Captures Title of Best Cat at International Cat Show

MTNest Dark Side O The Moon, a young Maine Coon, is crowned Best Cat in The International Cat Association’s 2008 Annual Championship Cat Show.
 
Sept. 9, 2008 - PRLog -- Harlingen, Texas - A Pennsylvania-bred black Maine Coon was named Best Cat of The International Cat Association’s 2008 Annual Championship Cat Show on August 31, 2008 in Arlington, Texas.

MTNest Dark Side O The Moon claimed the title of Best Cat after competing in twelve rings of judging against 100 championship cats from around the world.  Bred and owned by Judy and  David Bernbaum, the fifteen-month-old Dark Side O The Moon was third best kitten international and sixth best championship cat international for the 2007-2008 show season. The 2007-2008 show season ended April 30, 2008.

The International Cat Association’s (TICA) 2008 Annual Championship Cat Show had record-setting entries of almost 500 cats from around the world including Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Argentina, France, Mexico, Canada and from across the United States. Out of the 60 breeds recognized by TICA, 53 were represented at the show including the Toyger, Thai, Kurilian Bobtail, and Savannah.

“TICA is proud to be represented by some of the finest felines in the world, as exhibited by the cats and kittens who claimed the title of ‘Best of the Best’ in each of the categories judged,” said Kay DeVilbiss, President of TICA.

In addition to Championship Cats, other cats and kittens competed in Kitten, Alter, Household Pet and Household Pet Kitten categories. The highest-scoring winner-–or “Best of the Best”-- in each of the other categories was:

Kittens            LAPD Kid Rock, a Maine Coon bred and owned by E & M Brown
Alters                                   Toriland Passion of Chaparral, a Bombay owned by Jeff & Heather Roberts
Household Pets              Ay Chihuahua of Txnkats owned by Jerri Clark
Household Pet Kittens  Silver Dude owned by ShyAnn Williams
