Sept. 9, 2008 - PRLog -- Holding On to Her Dreams

If Freud was right, and true happiness is the fulfillment of your childhood dreams, then Jancee Dunn is one of the happiest people you will ever meet. This reporter, celebrity interviewer, and memoirist can now add  “novelist” to her list of accomplishments  with the release of her premier novel, “Don’t You Forget About Me” (2008). “It’s something I dreamt about doing since I was eight years old,” explains Jancee. “The idea of actually getting paid for making up fanciful stories in your head just seemed absurdly great to me.” As a tribute to her home state, the novel is set in Central New Jersey and draws on her real life family and the character and wisdom gained growing up a Jersey girl.
Last year when her younger sister Heather, married with 2 children, moved back to their parents’ home for six months, she handed Jancee the plot for her novel. “Take notes,” Jancee mused, as she watched Heather relapse into the setting where she had grown up. Written from the heart, “Don’t You Forget About Me” takes us back to the ‘80s, when Lillian Curtis, age 38, is abruptly left by her disillusioned husband and returns to her childhood home to get her life in order. Facing her 20 year high school reunion gives Llllian a trip down memory lane with long lost adolescent friends and another chance at love with her high school sweetheart.
“Don’t  You Forget About Me,” named for the Simple Minds’ hit song is a complete nostalgia trip back to Jancee’s youth,  filled with brand names, hot spots  and bands, transcending the reader back in time. “I just went nuts with the 80’s,” Jancee admits, after receiving so much positive feedback from readers about her memoir of growing up in New Jersey. The reviewers agree that although this has been done many times before, mostly in John Hughes romance fashion, Jancee’s approach is fresh, sharp and delightfully energetic,  making it a must read for all who have even given their youth a second thought.

I saw the need for a women’s forum that would deliver topics that women want, a place that talks to women as individuals with unique needs and passions. After hours spent being someone’s mother, daughter, or significant caretaking other, I wanted to create a place where women could be themselves. When we stop defining ourselves in terms of our relationships to others, we can learn more about who we are.
PrimeWoman is the result of choices that I made. It represents what I love doing and what I believe in. Choices are there at all ages, presenting possibilities that can take us down many roads. I am confident PrimeWoman will inspire women to make choices, take chances, at any age. PrimeWoman speaks to real women seeking to love the life they live.
