Mark Kelley's self-titled debut CD, which was released in Spring 2008, will be the focus for the September 12, 2008 KCLV 99.1 FM morning in-studio interview.
Kelley, a Blues Farm Records indie artist, has been a one man show for some time, but not all the time. In his spare time he plays live with Sansietch and other local musicians.
The label, Blues Farm Records, referred to as the little label that could, is a native of New Mexico. Based in Clovis, BFR specializes in a southwestern style of music that is mixed with elements of rock, country, blues and more. Other artists with the label are Sansietch and Gary Gorence.
The CD has 14 songs, and from the moment the supercharged guitar picks up on Is It Enough, you are keenly aware that it's more than just plain old country music. The undeniable twang and growl of Mark Kelley's southern drawl is just what the bartender ordered. It is the raw, grounding force throughout the Album. Sansietch's lead guitar work is recognizably signature, and once you hear it, you’ll know it’s him every time.
Mark Kelley, The Country, is the artist's official website, http://markkelley.webs.com, and of course, there's the Blues Farm Records label website: http://bluesfarm.webs.com
All loaded with tidbits for fans, and devoted to music enthusiasts. You can sample the new songs, and they are available for individual download via Amazon.com, and at these websites.
Mark Kelley fans will want to hear the artist sing and play the new hit, What A Beautiful Night, but the question is what cuts from the CD will he play. The CD is a trove of limitless jewels, such as the wrenching It Don't Make The Man, and She's Everything, an ode to Mark's Fiancée, Amy. The grumbling bass lines that drive one through the New Mexico anthem, Home, and the stomping country beat of I Don't Give A Damn, are testament to the blending of rich, diverse styles.
