Radio hosts, Matthew Cochran and Wyatt McIntyre were tired of hearing people complain about the state of politics and yet doing nothing to fix it. In taking to the airwaves on Patriot Action Live, the two speak out about current events and what regular citizens can do about issues.
“No one could make a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little.”
-Edmund Burke
Co-founder, Matthew Cochran makes the case for Project Patriot Action:
"The time is right for the citizens of America to begin to bring on change in our political system. Not 'change' like that which is promised by the politicians, for that is no change at all. No one politician is going to be the savior of our future. Only we, working together, can restore what has been lost and preserve that which remains.
In order to steer our country in the right direction for our future and for posterity, we must take part in the system. The founding fathers of this great nation had no time for people who simply “aren’t interested” in politics. We are all affected by the decisions our government makes and we each have an obligation, as citizens, to take part.
Patriotism requires action. This does not mean running for office or serving in the military. To each according to his own ability. To sit on the sidelines simply because you don’t think you can make a huge difference is a great disservice to the entire country.
Mobilze. Do what you can, according to the talents and abilities you’ve been given in life.
We do our entire country a disservice when we think that there’s no point in doing anything at all just because we can’t change Washington from the top down. I’d like more people to realize that change starts locally. Supporting your local candidates for office, volunteering at the library or church, visiting people at nursing homes - these are all examples of things that make a difference. Change in Washington starts from the bottom and works it’s ways up. If you want better politicians in office at the federal level, elect better politicians in your community.
I have heard many people say that they just aren’t ‘into politics’. This concerns me, because whether or not you are paying attention to the current events of the world, they are going to happen. Whether or not you are watching as new laws are passed, they will be passed; and they will affect your life. Everyone ought to care about politics, because everyone is affected by politics. You don’t have to be a political junkie, but you should at least know our nation’s history and current events.
It is not okay to sit on your couch, in ignorance. Every able citizen has an obligation to give something to society. We each have our own talents and abilities and we ought to use them. We’ve been blessed to live in the most prosperous, free nation in the world’s history. And we ought to return the favor.
Get up. Act. And spread the word to others."
