This fuel has 85% ethanol, while 15% is gasoline, because of which it is seen as a viable alternative to dependence on gasoline. Ethanol is made from corn and other grains, which grow plentifully in the US. Another advantage this fuel carries is that it is mostly renewable.

Chevrolet has as many 12 models that run on E85- flexible engines. Its manufacturer, General Motors, plans to increase to half of all its annual vehicle production by 2012, engines that are E85 or bio-diesel compatible.

General Motors says it is ahead of the competition in the race to have such vehicles. It now has well over two million flex-fuel vehicles on the roads.

Performance Chevrolet also stocks the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, a hybrid engine vehicle. This is another fuel-saving engine in that it works on a propulsion system that can run on either electric power, engine power or a combination of the two. This reduces gasoline consumption by nearly half.
