Closing the Financial Literacy Gap With Expert Knowledge

CFP Board and volunteers partner to deliver educational workshops for Washington, DC residents on 09/13/08 to show people how financial planning can improve their lives and give attendees access to reliable and responsible planning information.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 10, 2008 – The increasing complexity and serious ramifications of incorrect decisions has families questioning if they know what they are doing in the various parts of their personal finances.  The CFP Board has lined up 12 different educational workshops delivered by experts on topics ranging from Financial Planning for Special Needs, Estate Planning Basics, College Planning and Funding, Managing Debt, Living Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck and Financial Planning for Women.
The intention of the event is to show people how financial planning can improve their lives and give the attendees access to reliable and responsible financial planning information.  On September 13, 2008, CFP Board of Standards is having a Financial Planning Clinic in Washington, DC.  During the event, Felicia Gopaul, a local resident and CERTFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER will be presenting “5 Areas Where Parents Go So Frustratingly Wrong . . . Will You Make These Mistakes Too?”
“I will be sharing that paying for college in more than just the scholarships and grants that parent’s dream of and the loans they dread” states Mrs. Gopaul.  “Increasing your financial literacy in this area can make a big difference for your family and finances both now and in the future.  I‘m  convinced of that, and it’s why I volunteer as often as possible to deliver this message to inner-city communities that are perhaps not getting it from other sources.”
If you want more information about how the lack of knowledge in college planning and funding is affecting families everywhere, please contact Felicia Gopaul at (201) 453-9875.
