My Equilibrium Coach Launches New Program for Children

In response to the growing problem of obesity among U.S. children, Aerobodies, Inc. (www.aerobodies.com), a company that develops unique and innovative wellness programs for individuals and corporations, announced the launch of a new program targeted to middle school aged kids.

MECKids (www.meckids.com) is a new wellness program dedicated to helping children between the ages of 11-16 experiencing problems with weight. With national figures pointing to an alarming growth in the prevalence of obesity in children (overall, kids today are three times more likely to be overweight, than they were twenty years ago), the My Equilibrium Coach team decided that it was time to establish a program that would also help parents be involved in their children’s progress.

The Aerobodies Fitness team has been successful in implementing strategic techniques and programs both online and offline to help adults get fit in the workplace and at home. In October, 2006 it successfully launched a series of online corporate fitness challenges called www.myequilibriumcoach.com.   In January of 2008, it was decided to take the next step by establishing a program for school age kids, giving them the tools, tips and strategies they need to make healthier choices in eating and exercise.

In June 2008, My Equilibrium Coach began meeting with area schools to share their vision and receive feedback on the general plan and objective.  Given the positive reception from area schools, My Equilibrium Coach decided to officially launch this new program on July 15, 2008, with three area schools (TC Williams High School, Hammond Middle School and George Washington Middle School all located within Alexandria, Va.)

Based on the success of the pilot program, MECKids’ long term goal is to establish health and fitness programs for middle school aged kids in other parts of the country. With the increased availability and speed of the Web, and higher percentages of school aged students with web access, the program could be implemented successfully regardless of geographic location.
