Washington Rated Top Us Presidential Leader

George Washington Scores Nearly Perfect 96.5, While George W. Bush Scores Dismal 54.5

Sept. 8, 2008 - PRLog -- The Father of our Country is also the President who displayed the best business leadership skills among all forty-two US Presidents. Our current President didn’t fare as well.

While fewer in number, George W. Bush has his defenders. Unfortunately for him, his record as a leader is nearly indefensible. The editors of AskTheManager.com rated and ranked all forty-two US Presidents to determine which ones would make the best business leaders and which ones were too involved in political deal-making or too stubborn to do what’s right. Bush has had difficulties on both counts.

Many Presidents have had poor popularity ratings, though with George W. Bush the low opinion seem to come from a definite lack of true leadership. His poor handling of the Iraq War (great leaders admit when they're wrong and they "fish or cut bait") and the fact that only 10% of his top cabinet members appointed in 2001 are still with him today, are among the many issues that show Bush deserves to be ranked as the 7th worst Presidential Leader of all time.

In the wake of the November 4 Presidential elections, AskTheManager.com (a top leadership development and management training website) examined the management styles, leadership traits and true success of all forty-two US Presidents. While these Presidents have been repeatedly ranked by historians on the effectiveness of their respective Presidencies over the years, AskTheManager.com took a truly different approach.

How would any of the forty-two US Presidents perform if they were put in charge of a Fortune 500 corporation today? Which ones possessed true leadership traits like integrity, humility and delegation, and which ones were egomaniacal do-nothings? Which Presidents had what it takes to be a successful business leader in today’s economy and which ones were too busy worrying about the next election?

We know Washington was Number 1 and Bush came in at 36, but to read where the remaining forty Presidents ranked, and to find out who made the Bottom Ten, visit AskTheManager.com.
