Sept. 7, 2008 - PRLog -- An award-winning artist born in Waterville, Maine, Art Poulin paints timeless canvases of inviting landscapes that blend his love for life’s simplicities, a deep appreciation and knowledge of architecture, and a simple upbringing in small town America. This unique focus results in reflections of yesteryear and gentle countryside scenes loved by art
collectors and publishers world-wide.

Born in Waterville Maine, to French-Canadian parents, as a teen Art attended La Mennais Prep with plans of joining the order of the Brothers of Christian Instruction. However, music and art were a stronger calling. In 1975, Art received an undergraduate degree in fine art and studio painting.

Shortly thereafter, Art enlisted in the military as a tenor with the US Army Chorus – a position he held for over two decades. With the chorus, Art had the honor to meet six presidents and numerous world dignitaries. Performing at the White House, Radio City Music Hall and the Kennedy Center, among other world famous venues, he had the opportunity to work along side countless entertainment personalities, including Bob Hope and Dean Martin. During that time, he founded and operated a design-build firm of residential homes in Northern Virginia. His homes and architectural designs have been featured in both local and national magazines.

It wasn’t until 2002 when Art began his life-long dream of painting full time. Drawing upon years of architectural work, his gentle countryside scenes embrace an allegiance to architectural accuracy, frequently lost in typical folk art. His work so exemplifies American nostalgia and has such broad appeal that his painting have been chosen by leading publishers, such as Penguin Group and Graphique de France.

Art and his wife, author Gail Fraser, live at Lazy Goose Farm in rural upstate New York. Featured in several national magazines and on PBS, Lazy Goose is a 40-acre gentleman's farm that is demarcated by a 200-year old stone wall, and has views of the Catskills, Adirondack and Vermont mountains. They share their lives with two German Shepherds (one from their good friends at New Skete Monastery), Camille (the farm’s feline) and several other two- and four-legged barn friends. He has one son and two daughters and is the proud grandfather of two. Art is also an avid pianist, a classical music buff, and gardener.

An image of one of Art’s paintings “Village Veterinarian” a 27” x 27” acrylic is attached to this release for insertion.
