Why all the questions? Erie Plating Company's quoting process

Erie Plating asks a lot of questions when making a quote. Does your job require a certain specification? Testing? Packaging? How should we ship the part? Do you want a first-article trial run? Answering these questions saves you time and money.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 06, 2008 -
Why do we ask so many questions?

Sometimes, customers call us requesting a quote for a new part and tell us “I just want it anodized (or plated or passivated or polished), do it any way you want” or “Why do you ask so many questions when the other platers don’t?” That’s our point! We are not like other plating companies.

Our “thorough side” of plating approach to metal finishing requires us to identify issues that you may not even be aware of when you first contact us. Does the customer require conformance to a particular specification? Does it need to be RoHS-compliant? What are the testing requirements? What about packaging? How should we ship the part? When do you need it? Do you want a first-article trial run?

These are questions that, when answered, can result in more accurate quoting, faster turnaround and reduced cost for our customers. We want to do things right the first time and make sure you get the metal surface finishing you need. If you don’t need the extensive testing requirements of the military and aerospace companies, for example, we may be able to reduce costs for you.

Customers don’t always think about those things first, and they rely on us to understand their needs and meet their requirements, whether stated on left unsaid. As a result, Erie Plating Company has developed an extensive quoting process and contract review program. And yes, we do ask a lot of questions. We do that so we can meet your requirements in a timely, cost-effective manner while reducing the number of times we have to call you back for information.

So, bear with us. Our need for complete, accurate information is one of the things that set us apart from other plating companies. We want to do it right, not just soon.
