Gerald Auten - Drawing
Gerald Auten was educated at The University of Iowa (BFA Drawing and Painting), Washington University-St. Louis (MFA Painting) and The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (M. Arch). He teaches drawing, painting, architecture and senior seminar. Auten's work has been exhibited widely in the U.S. and abroad including exhibitions in Teheran, Mexico City, New York and Vancouver.
Varujan Boghosian - Construction
Varujan Boghosian was born in New Britain, Connecticut in 1926. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received a Fulbright Grant to study painting in Italy in 1953. Upon his return, he studied with Joseph Albers at the Yale School of Art and Architecture where he received a BFA and MFA. Boghosian’s mastery of ‘the line in its time’ and its particular and universal projections—
Margaret Lampe Kannenstine - Painting
Margaret Lampe Kannenstine is an artist whose landscapes, still lifes, and paintings of performing musicians are centered on the expressive use of color. Her love of Vermont and her ties to the land are evident in the landscapes, as is her love of music in the jazz series.
Ben Frank Moss - Painting
Ben Frank Moss was born in Philadelphia, attended the Stony Brook School for Boys on Long Island, NY, received his BA from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, was briefly a graduate student at Princeton Theological Seminary and in 1963 received his MFA from Boston University with high honors.
Rosamond Purcell - Photography
Rosamond Purcell is an internationally renowned artist and photographer. Purcell's work, including installations based on early museum history, has been exhibited in major institutions in Los Angeles, Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Her work is in the permanent collections of the museum of Fine Arts, Boston; The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the National Academy of Science; and the Victoria and Albert in London. She lives outside of Boston, MA.
Susan Walp - Painting and Drawing
Susan Jane Walp attended Mount Holyoke College (BA with Distinction and Honors in Painting) and the Brooklyn College MFA Program. Since 1998 she has been the Visiting Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the Department of Studio Art at Dartmouth College. Walp has exhibited widely throughout the US and abroad.
BigTown Gallery is located in the very center of Vermont and its Green Mountains. The Gallery brings to central Vermont exhibitions by artists deeply dedicated to an exploration of what fine art means both to create and to experience. Also in the Gallery, you'll find one-of-a-kind knitwear and an intriguing collection of old and new objects unlikely to be found under one small roof elsewhere.
