Long Island, NY - A Bengal kitten -- Asian Jasmine -- was crowned the world’s first Super Star Cat as the winner of PURRsonals.com first annual cat photo contest held at The International Cat Association (TICA) 2008 Annual Cat Show in Arlington, Texas on August 31, 2008.
The winner of the Silly Silly Kitty category, Asian Jasmine is owned by Tracie Crowder of Hurst, Texas. Second runner up was Motzie, a Savannah, who won the Eyes Have It category. He is owned by Deborah-Ann Milette of Latham, New York. Third runner up was Mackie, a blue domestic short hair mackerel tabby, who was the second place winner in the Eyes Have It category, and owned by Ellie Dodge of Arlington, Texas.
PURRsonals.com, the leading cats-only social networking web site for both cat owners and their cats, was selected to host the Super Star Cat Photo Contest. "In cat lovers' eyes, all cats are beautiful! No matter what color....size...or age, we love them all! And what better way to celebrate the feline fineness than to host the inagrual event," said Sonny Crane, Founder of PURRsonals.com.
More than 150 photographs were entered in the contest each vying for the title of Super Star Cat. The photographs were voted on by spectators and exhibitors at the show in six categories:
--Most Expressive Tail
--The Eyes Have It
--Silly Silly Kitty
--My Best Friend
--Remarkable Color
--Costume Design
The top three winners in each division will be featured on www.PURRsonals.com. "We want to share the newly crowned Super Star Cat plus all of the other winners with cat lovers around the world," said Crane.
All proceeds collected from the entry fees and votes were donated to Little Orphan Angels, a 501(3)c non-profit rescue group located in North Texas.
