New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg can now accessorize with flair with a pair of sterling silver basspan cufflinks from Caribbean Designer Liz Mannette, received at the pre Carnival breakfast in Brooklyn on Labor Day 2008.
As Grand Marshal of the annual event, Mayor Bloomberg opened the Carnival that attracts millions of Caribbean-Americans into Brooklyn, along with other political and business leaders from New York, including Governor Patterson and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke. This year, the West Indian American Day Parade & Carnival, celebrated its 41st anniversary with the theme “One Caribbean, many Cultures”, and the steelbands of Brooklyn were a major part of the annual festivities.
