LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Flame Run contemporary art glass studio is marking the arrival of its newest resident artist – Jonathan Capps -- with  “Glass Connections,” an exhibit that celebrates the studio’s friendships and connections to glass artists at Centre College and around the world.

The show opens Oct. 3 and runs through Nov. 15. An opening reception begins at 6 p.m. on Oct. 3.

Like White, Capps studied under Stephen Rolfe Powell at Centre College. Capps graduated in 2005 and finished a graduate fellowship in 2006. He’s returning to Kentucky to work as a resident artist at Flame Run after finishing an internship at the Pittsburgh Glass Center.

“The show is a celebration of Jon’s connections and of our connections,” said Brook White, co-owner of Flame Run.  “Jon says he has come full circle. He started doing glass in Kentucky, and he’s coming back. This is a way to continue to support our Centre family and the rest of our family in the glass community.”

The exhibit also will include work by Suzanne Ririe, of Pittsburgh, Dave Born, of Pittsburgh, Scott Benefield, of Seattle, D.H. McNabb, of Seattle, and John Miller, of Normal, Ill.  White and four of Flame Run’s resident artists, Paul Nelson, Jeanne Nelson, Matt Cummings, and Paul Hugues will also be showcasing their art.

Six of the artists – White, Capps, McNabb, Nelson, Cummings and Hugues -- are Centre College graduates.
