INDIANAPOLIS — Wheaton’s Safety Director, Dennis Whitaker, was recently voted Wheaton’s Employee of the Year by members of Wheaton’s corporate staff. Whitaker received the honor after being recognized as an Exceptional Employee of the Quarter, along with other colleagues throughout the year. Wheaton employees vote on their choice for Employee of the Year from the winners of the quarterly awards.
“Dennis is an exemplary employee who brings value to this organization far beyond the things suggested by his title,” said Wheaton’s Chairman, Steve Burns. “Not only does Dennis keep our company and our drivers safe, he’s the guy you count on in an emergency or time of crisis. He goes above and beyond, every single day.”
As Director of Safety, Whitaker oversees drivers’ logs, safety records, vehicle registrations, maintenance records, vehicle leasing, periodic inspections and state inspections. Through Whitaker’s efforts, Wheaton received many safety awards and has one of the best safety records in the moving and storage industry. In 2007, Wheaton was awarded the Fleet Safety Award by the American Moving & Storage Association.
