An El Paso-based soap company has recently been making headlines in the crafts and luxury goods industries, raising the bar and collecting accolades.
The company, Sudz N Bubbles, is the brainchild of local entrepreneur Cindy Tollen. Tollen founded the company four years ago in response to the special needs of her son who suffers from eczema.
"I found that the soap already out there wasn't too effective nor was it inexpensive,"
Initially producing glycerin-based soaps for skin treatment, the company has expanded its product line over the years to include a wide range of novelty soaps, including popsicle and dessert themed soaps. Today the Sudz N Bubbles product line includes many one of a kind seasonal holiday soaps to everyday bars.
The unique craftsmanship of the soaps has led to nationwide attention. Home & Garden Television recently finished filming the company for upcoming segments of their hit shows That's Clever and Design Club With Matt & Shari. The shows document inspirational crafters and their products.
Interest in Cindy’s themed soaps has even attracted the attention of Hollywood, having been included in celebrity gifting suites at recent awards shows. The sudz-sicle, coming in three "flavors," have seen a 50% increase since they were introduced at the gifting suites.
"When I created the sudz-sicles, I was looking to produce a fun, whimsical item," said Tollen. "Their popularity has got me thinking about additional flavors to add, which we'll be introducing in the future."
The company's success has encouraged Tollen to product globally. Tollen now takes part in tradeshows across the southwest and has created a web based operation to better supply her many customers.
