The decision to extend the discount period follows in the footsteps of an initiative by Velux Spain S.A. to promote sales of Velux blinds in the private sector and encourage trade for their national network of authorized distributors.
The discount scheme enables distributors to offer 10% off the normal retail price of Velux blinds. The scheme takes the form of coupons, provided by Velux Spain S.A., which are sent or handed to all purchasers placing their orders within the promotional period. All the purchasers need to do is to fill in their personal details on the coupon, send the coupon to the Velux offices in Madrid together with a copy of their receipt and the bar code printed on the packaging of their Velux blinds. Velux then reimburse purchasers with 10% of their order value paid directly into their bank accounts.
Originally intended to run for the summer period to August 15th 2008, the offer’s prolonged success has been proven despite the turndown in the Spanish economy and the reduction of liquidity in consumer markets.
