When Daryl appeared on the show, his demeanor and appearance was very lively and he looked perfectly healthy. The ladies of Good Things Utah asked Daryl several questions regarding his current health status after not being able to eat for such an extended amount of time. Daryl replied, "I went and had a physical the other day and I asked my doctor if I should eat a banana before coming on the show today, and she told me ‘no Daryl, you are fine and your blood sugar is perfectly normal’."
When asked how much energy he had, Daryl waved his hands in the air and replied, "Well, look at my energy. I haven't eaten any food in 17 days. I am probably about 90 percent, but I feel absolutely normal, and I am not hungry.” One of the ladies commented, "I am just absolutely blown away by this! Who needs food storage anymore?"

After 17 days without food, Daryl’s first meal was a bowl of chicken noodle soup at the Noodle Company. Daryl said it tasted incredible. After the show, when asked whether it was worth it or not, he replied, “Definitely. Now I have a complete idea of what it would ever feel like if I was caught in a survival situation.
