Signed 'Who' Parka by Lambretta
In a one off opportunity for music fans, Lambretta and Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) are auctioning an iconic piece of clothing : a parka from Lambretta’s ‘The Who’ collection, signed by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. The auction, conducted via eBay, takes place on Monday 8 September 2008 for 10 days, to raise money for TCT.
Lambretta’s replica of the parka worn on the cover of the seminal Quadrophenia album features the signatures of two of the original members of Britain’s cherished mod band. Unavailable anywhere else in the world, this parka is rock and roll gold dust!
Roger Daltrey is a patron of TCT and has appeared with The Who in a number of TCT fundraising concerts. His ongoing efforts have contributed to the creation of eight specialist units for teenage cancer sufferers, the aim is to continue to build 14 more throughout the country. The units go beyond being normal hospital wards as they include computers, pool tables, Playstations, satellite TV and musical instruments. The environment gives teenagers a place to meet others in a similar situation, building friendships and providing the mechanisms to cope with their illness.
“TCT units give our teenagers the moral support to help ght this terrible disease,” says Daltrey. “It’s great we’ve been able to open eight wards so far, but we need more of them so that every teenager in the UK can have access to one.”
