Sept. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- A good club band makes you dance and have a good time. A great one does that and sends you home singing a melody with positive ideas in your head. Worcester-based band Soul Movement finds their home in the clubs and colleges around Mass. but always has time for the community gigs. They have played with big acts in Boston (PM Dawn, The Pharcyde) and played for the past three years at Worcester's annual "Taking Steps to End Violence Against Women and Children" walk, but mostly a bit of everything in between. They will release their sophomore CD "Universal" in Boston at Bill's Bar on Saturday, September 6th and in Worcester at Tammany Hall on Friday, September 19th.

Soul Movement creates Soulful Vibes with a Positive Pulse. They mix Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz and six eclectic personalities into a musical style that is widely enjoyed by all age groups. Soul Movement features beautiful flute and trumpet melodies, soulful female vocals, and socially-conscious rhymes layered over a bed of solid rhythms provided by guitar, bass, keyboard and drums.

"Our message is important to us because it is real and comes from the heart.",  notes bassist Luke Bass. "While playing at a big club in Boston, it was perfectly natural for front man Afro DZ ak to give a shout out to his friends from Americorps who came to support him. You just don't see that a lot."

Having two strong vocalists up front puts the band head and shoulders above most right from the start. Singer Sunta Africa and MC Afro DZ ak blend song and rhyme together seamlessly.  Flute melodies are provided by Sarah G and jazzy harmony by guitarist Joe Carcia.  Afro DZ ak is a triple threat, adding trumpet and keyboard to the band's instrumentation.  Drummer Tim Burden and bassist Luke Bass provide the infectious, danceable grooves.

This band will definitely send you home whistling and thinking "If everyone gave just a little bit." Check out Soul Movement's music and pics at www.myspace.com/SoulMovement.
