Sept. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- Home Fitness Retailer Continues to Lead Industry

King of Prussia, Pa., August 25, 2008 – Smooth Fitness, the largest online retailer of home fitness equipment, today announced the company has been included in the Inc. magazine ranking of the 5000 fastest-growing companies in the nation for the second year in a row.  Smooth Fitness, who comes in at number 4568, has experienced a 53% increase in revenue over the last three years.

“Being included in the Inc. 5000 for a second consecutive year is a significant achievement for our company,” said Marc Cerceo, Chief Operating Officer of Smooth Fitness.  “We are excited about our continued growth and to be ranked among some of the most elite companies in the country.”

The Inc. 5000, an extension of Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 500 list, catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace required to make the Inc. 500, as well as a host of smaller firms.  Taken as a whole, the companies on the Inc. 5000 list represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.

“The Inc. 5000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial part,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager Jim Melloan.  “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of larger companies, older companies, and a wealth of companies in the industries like manufacturing and construction that are underreported in the business media.”

The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007.  To qualify, companies has to be U.S.-based, privately held independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2007 and have at least $600,000 in net sales in the base year.  Smooth Fitness was ranked 3,880 on the 2007 list.

This ranking puts Smooth Fitness among an elite group that over the years has included Microsoft, Timberland, Cold Stone Creamery, Go Daddy, Jamba Juice, Oracle and UnderArmour.  Many of today’s most successful U.S. companies received their first public recognition when they appeared on the Inc. list.
