The Manuel Antonio National Park is constituted by beautiful beaches and surrounding forest vegetation which grows into the coast line. In the cooler trails of the forests, the tourists can spot the pizotes, sloth, raccoons and the howler and capuchin monkeys. Coming to the capuchin monkeys, one is reminded of the vociferous efforts of Edward R. Mercer to save the endangered species of the scarlet macaws, sea turtles and the white-faced capuchin monkeys. Hailing from Canada, Ed came to Costa Rica with his wife for the Iron Man Competition. Compassionately called Mr. Costa Rica, Ed solves the infrastructural problems of the region starting with providing buses and roads to small school children, who walked miles earlier. Ed observed that the scarlet macaws were hunted for their plumage, capuchin monkeys for sale as pets and sea turtles for eggs which were used as aphrodisiacs. Not only Ed took initiative to plant the almond trees (that served as natural food of macaws and habitat for moneys) but he also ensured protected nesting hatcheries in the nearby villages to increase the population of sea turtles. These pioneering efforts made Ed an inductee into the prestigious Environmental Hall of Fame in Los Angeles. His organization, Edward R. Mercer foundation is wedded to the ideals of a sustainable planet for the posterity by ecological conservation and education.
In Los Angeles, Ed shared the platform with renowned authors, environmentalists, entrepreneurs, inventors and ecological minds. Ed’s interaction with Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar and Donald Trump made him feel enriched. An accomplished public speaker, Ed mainly speaks on the Environmental Issues, Costa Rica, Rea Estate Investment, Personal Growth and Development, Wealth Enhancement and Mentoring Millionaires. Ed is a member of Greenpeace, Habit for Humanity, World Wildlife Fund and National Geographic. A self taught entrepreneur, Ed amassed acres of breathtaking land eventually becoming one of the largest owners, builders and real-estate developers in Costa Rica. Ed’s dream was to create a one-stop-shop organization, in the form of his company, that would make the buying and selling of his real estate properties easy and smooth for the buyers.
One such buyer (JH) is all praises for the professional tour of the property undertaken by Ed’s team. The new property and hospitality both are appealing to him. Sheila Eisan is of the view,” The hospitality shown by Patrick and Marcel was beyond excellence. The patience in answering our numerous questions, willingness to work with me on properties and part with your knowledge to make the experience truly wonderful, was truly appreciated. I will enjoy living here.”
Manuel Antonio National Park is the perfect place to hang out. The park holds an added advantage in the fact that there is an ample variety of hotels and cabins to make a good choice. It is one of the most visited protected areas of Costa Erica. Camping is not allowed in the park with a fear of disturbing the wild life in the already small park. The entry is fifteen dollars or only five if an advance booking is made. Early morning time is the best for spotting animals like caimans. Tidal pools and marine life is also offered. It is usually most clear in the dry season. Apart from hotels and cabins that abound the boundaries of the park, there are also plenty of places to eat in and around the park. Fortunately, they range from small spots offering the basic dishes of the region to the highly popular five star dining restaurants.
