Exciting Leadership Announcements for Comicbook Artists Guild

The Leadership Team for the ever-growing networking organization has promoted members to new positions.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 01, 2008 – In any organization, it is an exciting time when members who have exceeded expectations are promoted to higher positions.  The Leadership Team of the Comicbook Artists Guild is proud and honored to announce its latest set of promotions.

Artist and former Massachusetts State Coordinator, Hector Rodriguez has been promoted to Vice President of East Coast Operations.  In his new role, Hector will oversee chapters in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Due to the close proximity of all three chapters Hector envisions uniting the chapters into one and conducting meetings in various locations in the tri-state area.  Artistically, Hector is an illustrator with an eye for detail, his work has appeared in the CAG anthologies, Psychosis #1 and #2, and in Sam Vera's Nani Tales. Hector is currently working on his own book Hell's Blood due out later this year.  Hector has been a member of the Guild since 2002 and is eager to “see CAG grow, prosper, and move forward so much so that when we step in the room everyone knows exactly who we are and what we represent in this industry.”

Speaking on Hector’s recent promotion, CAG President Keith Murphey says "I'm very confident in having Hector as the new East Coast VP.  He will surely be an asset to our leadership.  He has a very honest and grounding nature that will keep everyone centered."

Joining CAG in 2007, Susan Soares was soon appointed to Membership Coordinator.  In that role, she created a Membership Database, organized and conducted 2 successful membership drives and increased membership by over 20 members in less than one year.  Seeing the need for CAG to promote its mission on a broader scale, Susan proposed the creation of a Promotions and Recruitment Committee.  This committee will work closely with the Leadership Team to organize activities on a local and national level that provides members with greater exposure to learn and grow in the industry.  As the chairperson for this committee, Susan will continue her recruitment activities while also serving as spokesperson for the Guild and ensuring that CAG is well-represented throughout its entire footprint.  Aside from her responsibilities for the Guild, Susan is the Promotions Coordinator for Free Lunch Comics.

With the creation of the Promotions and Recruitment Committee, a new position within the Leadership Team has been established.  Lindsay Kraemer, a relatively new member in the Guild and the New York Metro Chapter, will serve as Conventions Coordinator and will report to the Chairperson of the Promotions and Recruitment Committee.  In her new role, Lindsay will be the point person and driving force for CAG’s presence at comic book conventions throughout the country.  In a very short time, Lindsay has demonstrated a strong desire to learn and grow by being involved.  She brings a great energy to the Leadership Team.  In addition to Lindsay’s participation in CAG, she is pursuing artistic passions in theater, studio art, and writing.  After attending her first comic book convention in 2008, she joined CAG with aspirations of becoming a comic book writer.

CAG’s New York Metro Vice President and Creative Director recently commented on the formation of the Promotions and Recruitment Committee, "Susan and Lindsay have shown leadership in working with the regional Vice Presidents and creating a platform for the CAG membership to enjoy these events.  It is with profound gratitude and deep respect that these both positions were created to acknowledge their success."

The Comicbook Artists Guild, L.L.C., founded in 2000, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the networking, education and support of comic book creators, writers and artists alike, regardless of amateur or professional status, skill levels or talent divisions.  Currently, CAG operates membership chapters out of New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Texas, Nebraska, Nevada, Southern California and a chapter abroad in Brazil, with interest in opening more chapters continuing to grow. CAG’s goals are to advance the medium of comics through the creative experiences of its members by bringing them together on projects of their choosing, while perpetuating the positive aspects of the comics industry and its continuing contribution to popular culture.
