Boca Raton— Former FL House District 87 Candidate, Todd Maki, narrowly missed the Democratic nomination to take on Hasner for the General Election. With a 47% to 53% estimated margin, Robert Ostrov won in honorable fashion. While out-raising Maki 4 to 1, Ostrov took to the air-waves while Maki relied on his support on the ground to make it a very tight race. “I think with this being the cleanest close race in FL, it shows Robert Ostrov to be true to his word and a very honorable gentleman.” Maki continues, “I thought money did not mean that much in politics, but now I know how important it really is to win by the closest of margins.”
Todd Maki now places his support behind Ostrov and immediately went to work changing his website title to “Maki for Ostrov 2008.” “Ostrov is the kind of man who sticks to his word and I know that first hand. He won the race fair and square and will beat Hasner the same way.”
When asked if Maki will pursue politics again he said he is content with his work so far for helping people in the community, “and only if the need arises I may consider another run but for now we need to beat Adam and Rob Ostrov can beat him.”
Formerly the Democratic candidate for Florida House of Representatives District 87, Todd has dedicated a large portion of his life to volunteering in the community. He participated in the American Red Cross Disaster Alert Team, Food for the Poor, Habitat for Humanity and the Palm Beach and Martin County Alzheimer’s Community Care.
While earning his degree in political science, Todd pursued his interest in the government setting. He took part in the student government association as the Secretary of Municipal Affairs, served as a legislative intern for Senator Dave Aronberg and Senator Ron Klein, and was involved in the Ron Klein Congressional Campaign as the Deputy Field Staff/Recruiter.
While teaching the fundamentals of safe swimming as aquatic supervisor and head swim instructor at the Boca Raton YMCA, Todd discovered that teaching these skills gave students a sense of assurance and confidence. He initiated and facilitated a leadership course as part of PBCC’s Summer Youth College to develop future leaders and help today’s youth fulfill their dreams in life. He now is the Sales Manager for Rescue 101, a company aimed at saving lives.
