DALLAS, TEXAS—Several prominent Texas attorneys and a real estate expert are slated to present at a workshop for forensic expert witnesses on Sept. 19 at the Park City Club in Dallas. The one-day conference is sponsored by the Texas chapter of the Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA).
The one-day workshop, “What Clients Want: Advice from Users of Experts,” includes sessions on jury viewpoint, the use PowerPoint presentations, expert preparation, use of experts in mediation and arbitration, Daubert challenges and implications of the Lambert v. Carneghi decision.
Workshop leaders include Kevin J. Maguire of Strasburger & Price, LLP; Joel W. Reese of
Winstead; Anne Stark of Stark Law; William B. Short, Jr., of Ford Nassen & Baldwin P.C.; Craig A. Albert of McElree, Savage, Smith; and Stephen T. Crosson, chairman and CEO of Crosson Dannis, Inc.
“This workshop will be invaluable to anyone who serves as an expert witness,” said Rudy R. Robinson, president of the Dallas-based Texas chapter of FEWA. “These session leaders are experienced litigators, and we will gain important knowledge from them.”
The event is being held at the Park City Club in Dallas. Lodging is available at a group rate at the nearby Hilton Park Cities Hotel.
The Texas chapter holds regular meetings that feature speakers from the legal community—judges and trial lawyers—as well as experienced expert witnesses, who help FEWA members learn more about the intricacies of the legal system and to understand how judges, jurors and the public view the presence of experts in the court room. The organization also sponsors periodic educational workshops to improve the quality and reliability of expert testimony.
In December, the chapter is sponsoring a workshop, “Professional Marketing/Business Development,”
FEWA members cover a broad spectrum of specialty disciplines, ranging from accident reconstruction to zoning consistency, and serve as forensic investigators and expert witnesses in civil litigation and criminal prosecutions. FEWA publishes an annual directory and quarterly newsletter, and sponsors continuing education workshops and other activities.
