Upholding Americana Community Bank’s (ACB), http://www.americanafinancial.com, mission of serving others and actively participating in the communities it serves, ACB’s Sleepy Eye branch is supporting the Sleepy Eye Area Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing, “The Chief’s Pride,”, http://www.lgfws.com, by sponsoring the program brochures. Let’s Go Fishing (LGF) was created to enrich the lives of people age 55 and older through free fishing and boating excursions that strengthen communities, build relationships and create memories.

Volunteer time and 501c3 tax-deductible donations will enable “The Chief’s Pride” to continue offering free fishing and pontoon rides to senior citizens and hospice patients throughout 2008. The boat outings take place on Sleepy Eye Lake for groups of four to 10. “The Chief’s Pride” is a 24-foot pontoon with three 27-inch buoys.

The 12 padded, swivel, reclining captain’s chairs can be removed to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. A Captain and Mate meet participants at the local Sportsman’s Park, just north of Sleepy Eye Lake, off Highway 4. Life vests, rods and reels, bait and tackle, and drinking water are provided. The pontoon has a canopy, but participants are encouraged to bring a hat, sunglasses and sun lotion. A Fishing License is required, unless participants live in a nursing home.

A favorite past-time of Minnesotans, LGF returns the outdoor fishing and boating experience to those whom might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy time with friends and family on the water. Since its inception in 2002, LGF has served over 15,000 seniors, veterans and disabled adults. This season Let’s Go Fishing also added ‘take a child fishing’ to its program offerings.

“We are honored to sponsor ’The Chief’s Pride’ program brochures,” said Brad Mathiowetz, Americana Community Bank Sleepy Eye Manager. “Our staff remains excited about this wonderful program, as it dovetails nicely with our mission to actively participate in the communities we serve.”

To reserve “The Chief’s Pride,” call Janice Evers at 507-794-7420, or make a donation by contacting Lorraine Schroepfer at 507-794-7980.
