Wingstop named to Top 10 Growth Chains 2008

Chicken wing fanatics' favorite chain continues to soar

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 27, 2008 -
DALLAS – The economy has slowed and things are tough out there, but the Wingstop chain keeps rockin’ as evidenced by their being named as one of the nation’s Top 10 Growth Chains of 2008 by Restaurant Hospitality magazine.

According to the magazine, the list usually features juggernauts that were making money hand over fist. This year’s list—which features $100 million-plus growth companies—is a bit different. It reflects well-positioned restaurants that have handled the difficult economy better than the rest, says Bob Derrington, an equity research analyst from Morgan Keegan and Co.

Making this prestigious list comes on the heels of Wingstop being awarded Best Overall Company in this year’s American Business Awards and also making their debut appearance in the Nation’s Restaurant Second 100 List, published July 28.

“Wingstop is undoubtedly a great value to consumers anytime, but especially in an economy like this,” said James Flynn, Wingstop CEO. “We will continue to stick with the basics of running superior restaurants and I know our customers stay loyal to our brand because of the consistently good experience.”

Wingstop’s signature bone-in chicken wings and boneless wing strips are prepared fresh and are available in nine proprietary flavors.  Both types of wings are made-to-order and there are no heat lamps, microwaves or holding bins in the store.  Side dishes are made from scratch and prepared daily in each location.  Party platters are available for catered events such as office parties, family gatherings and sporting events.

About Wingstop:
Wingstop offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings.  The chain now serves boneless wing strips that are made from 100 percent all-white meat chicken breast coated with a proprietary batter and breading.  Wingstop features nine wing flavors, including Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, and Hickory Smoked BBQ. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming hot. Customers can also choose from homemade side dishes including fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, potato salad, creamy cole slaw, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.

Wingstop has more than 600 restaurants either open or under development in 31 states and consistently tops industry growth rankings. Wingstop recently won an American Business Award for Best Overall Company and is 125th on Entrepreneur’s 2008 Franchise 500 list and was chosen Wing King at the 2006 National Buffalo Wing Festival.  Troy Aikman, three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame quarterback, has served as the chain’s national spokesman since 2003. Aikman extended his contract in 2006 for three years, as Wingstop has posted 20 consecutive quarters of comp store sales increases since the partnership.
