In Hollywood, everyone knows it’s not what you know, but who you know. Launched in February by celebrity makeup artist Michelle Lee, the Hair and Makeup Artist Network is already becoming known as the place for freelance hair and makeup artists to GET KNOWN.
The Hair and Makeup Artist Network is the first comprehensive resource center exclusively for the hair and makeup professional. In addition to providing business support services for self-employed artists, the Network grants its members access to group health care plans, business seminars, job postings, production listings, artistry workshops, and networking events.
Since its inception The Hair and Makeup Artist Network has already partnered with some of the beauty industry’s biggest names. Some heavy-hitters who recently taught workshops include: Cloutier Agency, Smashbox, Paul Mitchell, Make Up For Ever, Emmy Winner Fred Blau, and Department Heads from “Boston Legal” and “Monster’s Ball.”
The Network was born from the experience Michelle Lee had upon starting her own Hollywood career in the mid-nineties. “I couldn’t get anyone to talk to me or help me,” says Lee. “I couldn’t help but think there has to be an easier way to do this. It shouldn’t be this difficult to get work.”
Now an established artist who has worked with A-list celebrities Geena Davis, Rachael Leigh Cook, Dennis Hopper, and Robert Redford, Lee now helps her fellow artists learn the importance of Networking in the entertainment industry. “It’s the only way to get work!”
