Representatives of government, academia, and industry gather this week in California for a three day conference on process control systems to enhance cybersecurity. The conference, titled “Responsible Vulnerability Disclosure,”
“Process control systems play a critical role in maintaining the availability and performance of national infrastructure such as power grids, water supplies, gas pipelines, and chemical plants. Therefore, the security of these systems is paramount,” said Robert J. Clerman, corporate vice president for corporate mission development, at Noblis, Inc., an organizer of the event. “Bringing these stakeholders together will result in more secure control system architectures and improved security practices.”
The conference is hosted by the Process Control Systems Forum (PCSF), which was created February 2005 at the behest of the Department of Homeland Security to bring together the best minds in government, industry, and academia to collaborate on security improvements for process control systems. The 2008 Process Control Systems Industry Conference, organized by Noblis, a non-profit science, technology and strategy organization, will be held August 26 - August 28 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines hotel in La Jolla, California.
