About the Portes du Soleil
To say that the Portes du Soleil is a big ski area is a bit of an understatement. The area is vast - the largest linked ski area in the world!
There is something for everyone in this incredible ski area. Beginners are well catered for with plenty of nursery slopes and easy blues.
For intermediates, the area is heaven - mile after mile of pistes. You needn’t ski the same run twice during your holiday.
And for experts, because of the size of the area the off piste possibilities appear endless. For even more of a challenge, you can sign up for one of our off piste adventure courses, or we can arranage heli-skiing trips and trips to ski the Vallee Blanche in Chamonix.
The Portes du Soleil has a fantastic snow record. Its location in the Northern French Alps, and its proximity to Lac Leman and Mont Blanc mean that the area receives on average more snow then anywhere else in the Alps. In fact Avoriaz gets on average over 9m of snow a year which is the most that any resort in the French Alps receives.
