Capital Idea Ventures, Inc. (CiV) was asked by The Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Humanities to create a series of web-based interactives for U.S. History and Government teachers. The lessons and the interactives created as a part of this partnership are being placed on the NEH's EDSITEment web site, which features the best of the humanities on the web.
The CiV design and development team created Flash and web-based interactives on a wide range of topics, including:
* A Word Fitly Spoken: Abraham Lincoln and the American Union
* America on the Sidelines: The United States and World Affairs, 1931-1941
* The Inconsistency Not to Be Excused: Slavery and the American Founding
* Reconstruction:
* The Embargo Act
* The Road to Impeachment:
* Reporting the War: Journalism and the Spanish-American War
* Meet the Army Commanders - Union & Confederate
These activities are a part of the NEH's We the People initiative. The project is led by Dr. John Moser, Assistant Professor of History at Ashland University, and the lessons are developed by distinguished faculty and secondary school teachers from across the nation.
Dr. Moser praised CiV's creative team for their work:
"We are continually impressed with CiV's ability to create fresh and compelling interactive concepts. The visuals are stunning.
CiV also took care of the important details - like auditioning voice actors for Abraham Lincoln and music selection - which make these stories come alive. Working with Ashbrook, the NEH and our faculty teams, the CiV team helped give teachers across the country a cadre of useful teaching tools which we hope will help engage students' interest in learning more of our nation's history"
