PR Log (Press Release) – Aug 23, 2008 – New Business Rates Effective October 1, 2008

Rates on the following products will decrease effective October 1, 2008:

Select Blue Advantage
PPO Select Choice
PPO Select Saver
BlueEdge Individual HSA

The percentages of decrease are as follows:
2% base rate cut on all specified products
5% area cut in San Antonio and El Paso

Additional high deductible cuts are as follows:
Select Blue Advantage, PPO Select Choice
and PPO Select Saver


BlueEdge Individual HSA

$3,500 deductible – 1%
$5,000 deductible – 2%
$10,000 deductible – 3%
$1,750 deductible – 1%
$2,500 deductible – 2%
$5,000 deductible – 2%

To sum up the great news - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas rate reduction ranges from 2% to 10% off of base rates effective 10/1/08.  All applications subject to underwriting and terms and conditions.
