The unique ability to create the right song for an artist is a task for any producer. His respect for music without compromising definitions allows him to do just that. Jerry “Fatz” Flowers is a producer who says his style is original because of the fact that he is true chameleon of the art. “Not that I’m trying to hop from one style to another It’s just who I am” he says. Jerry “Fatz” Flowers born in Chicago later relocated to Freeport/Rockford IL. Where the journey began. The youngest of seven siblings raised by their mother in sub standard conditions is where music became his escape.
At an early age is when music became a passion of his. Originally inspired by his older brother a bass player, he also began to study the instrument. As the Hip Hop culture emerged he was intrigued by, The Sugar Hill Gang, LL Cool J, & Run DMC. During this era he was also a professional break-dancer modeling sweat suits for department stores at local malls. Like all the other kids in the neighborhood he also played sports soon to be exposed to Prince and the Minneapolis movement, a sound that was taking the country by storm. The ecliptic blend of electronic drum machines and synthesizers combined with rhythmic bass and guitars, which became the sound of the Mid-West mesmerized the youngster.
After playing bass guitar in a band, which he and a friend started, he ventured into music production. Intrigued by producers such as Prince, Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam, & R Kelly of whom inspired him to make music production and song writing a career. His desire to understand every aspect of the music game aspired him to enroll in Full Sail, a well-established school for the recording arts in Orlando FL., where he applied technical theory to his repertoire. Immediately after graduating, he signed a production deal with an independent record company in Atlanta GA where he currently resides. Shortly after the first production situation commenced he was offered a production/song writing deal with Keia Records, “Keith Sweats label” an subsidiary of Elektra Ent. During this musical endeavor he worked on platinum artist such as, Keith Sweat, Silk, Bobby Brown, Kut Klose and Sam Salters to name a few.
