Aug. 26, 2008 - PRLog -- What happened when Doreen Orion and her husband, Tim, beamed down to Roswell, New Mexico? They attended a UFO festival, naturally.

Both Orion and her husband, Tim, are psychiatrists. They spent a year driving a motor home around America with a sixty-pound dog and two querulous cats. Orion penned a memoir about their life-changing trip: Queen of the Road: The True Tale of 47 States, 22,000 Miles, 200 Shoes, 2 Cats, 1 Poodle, a Husband, and a Will of Its Own (Broadway, June 2008).

“As psychiatrists, we’re both connoisseurs of quirky – and we’d certainly seen a lot of strange things on our year-long trip. But we were particularly looking forward to the UFO Festival in Roswell as a rare opportunity to observe weirdness recreationally, without the expectation we would do anything about it,” Orion shared. “We didn’t have to worry about whether the UFOs were weather balloons or the real thing. We didn’t have to decide whether Apollo Astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s theory about a government cover-up was on target, or whether he was still somewhere in outer space. It wasn’t our problem! We were able to enjoy the UFO festival without a care in the world – especially since there was no mention of anal probes.”

Ultimately, Orion and her husband discovered the reason so many of us have been “taken” – we’re just some alien’s crop. “Does make you think, now, doesn’t it?” Orion muses. Most important of all, she and Tim quickly realized that to get through the Festival, “We’d better unlearn years of professional practice making eye contact with people.” And what would have happened if Orion hadn’t managed to get away? “After spending a year on the road in a converted bus, experiencing a fire, armed robbery, visit from Elvis, and finding ourselves among nudists, I’ve seen just about everything, and very little in this world -- or any other -- could surprise me.”

She shares the experience in her new video trailer for her book that you can see at http://www.doreenorion.com/orion-video-beam.htm. For more information or to schedule an interview with the author, visit Orion’s Web site, http://www.QueenOfTheRoadTheBook.com/.
