Angel Restoration surges towards a zero emissions fleet with order of ten REV electric vehicles from local startup Envia. “We think it’s time we join other businesses in taking an active role in our environment. I can think of no better way than by demonstrating that electric vehicles producing zero tailpipe emissions are more than ready for our needs, and those of many others as well.”
With soaring fuel prices and increased awareness of the impact of greenhouse gas emissions from fleets, the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the year David McLeod has decided it is time to go green and with Envia. Angel Restoration also plans to introduce a Zero Emissions Challenge to local businesses as well. “We hope that by taking the lead in this endeavor, others will want to step up as well. Ultimately, it’s not about who is the most green. We think that this fun and friendly green competition could really accelerate the change we all want to see in the world.”
The recent order backlog of the Toyota Prius and the announcement of the Chevy Volt electric car indicate a growing momentum in the hybrid and battery electric vehicle markets. However, the high costs of advanced batteries have prevented large manufacturers from entering this market.
“Electric vehicles are silent, smooth, efficient, and cost very little to run, ” states Jay Giraud, Founder and President of Envia. “For the average SUV or light pickup truck driver the costs of electricity is as little as $7 to $25 a month, compared to $200 to $400 for gasoline. With these savings a fleet manager can justify the conversions costs to an electric power train and the advanced lithium-Ion batteries required for an 80-200 km range. The other big incentive is a lack of tailpipe emissions or for that matter, any kind of tailpipe at all.”
