PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 20, 2008 -
LockLizard have added two new features to extend the capabilities of their Lizard Safeguard pdf protection product making end user’s interactions simpler when viewing e-books, and a new document control feature for publishers for more flexible e book protection.

The first is multi-language installation support.  This covers installation in the Latin based languages as an extension of British or American English.  This addition addresses requirements from Europe and the Americas, allowing end users in a wide variety of countries to be able to interact more readily with DRM protected information.

The second addition is the ability to bookmark the page of the e book or document you were last reading when shutting down the viewer.  This means that next time you open the document it will take you to the point that you were last at – rather like leaving a post-it note in the novel you are reading!

The third addition is a new ebook DRM control for the publisher of protected documents.  This facility to allow a user to be able to use a document for a specific number of days from first opening a protected document.  This feature has been provided where publishers are sending out documents or ebooks ‘on approval’ so that potential customers can look them over for a couple of days to see if they like them and want to buy them.  This is an exciting feature because it is something that is not possible in the physical world.  Publishers are not going to send out physical books just to see if you like them, and you are not going to want to pay the postage to send them back if you don’t.  But this kind of DRM enabled feature allows both the publisher and the customer to get the best of both worlds.  If you don’t like it there is nothing to send back, but you have enough time to try it before you buy it.

So LockLizard have provided three important new features that make customers and publishers experiences more useful and effective when protecting and viewing ebooks.

About Lizard Safeguard PDF DRM

Lizard Safeguard DRM security protects ebooks and documents published in PDF format with DRM copy controls and US Government strength, AES 256 bit, encryption.  It provides document and ebook protection by preventing copying, modifying, screen grabbing, saving and distribution. In addition the document owner can control whether users can print protected e books, and, if so, how many times. Controls check how documents are used, by whom, for how long, and what can be done with them, in order to enforce copyright and secure digital books.
