Report Buyer, the online destination for business intelligence for major industry sectors, has added a new report which examines the state of IT support capabilities – particularly mobility support – at the Forbes Global 2000 companies.

The report “Global 2000 companies are looking to provide greater Mobility Support to their employees: Industry Strategic Outlook” available at http://www.reportbuyer.com/go/IEM00540 uses the results of IEMR’s 2008 Global Entreprise Telecommunications Survey. It provides strategy recommendations for vendors of managed services that can offer mobility support to Global 2000 enterprises.

IEMR’s 2008 Global Enterprise Telecommunications Survey found that Global 2000 firms are increasingly looking to provide greater IT support capabilities to their increasingly global mobile workforces. According to the report, the main driver behind this trend is primarily the growing demand from employees of Global 2000 companies for consistent IT desk support.

Furthermore, the report suggest that while there is no single provider of end-to-end managed services for mobility support, outsourcing elements of mobility support at Global 2000 companies can free up a significant amount of time and resources at large enterprises. The Global Enterprise Telecommunications Survey also found that over 35% of the 500 CIOs and IT Heads at Global 2000 companies who responded would consider managed services as part of their toolbox to provide mobility support.

Key highlights of the survey include:
- 67% of the 500 respondents to the survey said that the IT and networking planning group in their company is facing increasing pressure from executive management to support mobile devices (including cellphones and laptops) used by company employees.
- 55% of respondents said that they were looking to implement solutions to track and analyse patterns of international mobile voice and data-roaming usage.
- 55% of Global 2000 companies say they support 3G cellular mobility services. Another 20% of Global 2000 companies say they will likely be supporting 3G mobility services in the next two years.
