Simon Wagstaff managing director of the ASA Group, a specialist aviation security services provider headquartered in Thailand, has been asked by the prestigious Forbes Traveler magazine to sit on its board of hotel experts for the second year running.
Forbes Traveler produces an annual list of the world's top hotels and resorts, selected by the cream of today’s travel professionals and professional travellers. This year’s panel includes such industry luminaries as Serge Dive, founder, International Luxury Travel Market, Andrew Zimmern, the Travel Channel, Tony Wheeler, co-founder Lonely Planet Publications and Arnie Weissmann, editor in chief of Travel Weekly. Panellists have to have stayed in 12 or more 5-star hotels over the past 24 months and must not be economically or otherwise affiliated with any hotel.
Simon’s expertise derives from his role within the ASA Group. His work entails escorting VVIPs throughout the region, including heads of state and A-listers, who require the utmost discretion and top security. He says: “It is an honour to join such a highly-regarded team. An integral part of our service is to have an in-depth knowledge of suitable accommodation for our clients. We are finding that many people are requesting such information as they prepare to fly into the region for the Olympics.”

Simon Wagstaff was born and bred in the UK, and has more than 32 years’ experience in the security and travel business. He has lived in Asia since 1990.
