In the spirit of community, Kate Crowley, an aspiring hairstylist, about to turn 25 years old on August 29th has decided to use this milestone in her life to do good rather than have it be just another day.
After watching her grandmother and parents caring for her great-grandmother as she suffered in her last days with dementia in 2000, Kate wished that there had been a place where families in this position could be supported.
Last year, as she attended Paul Mitchell The School in Rhode Island, that wish came true. She discovered Leeza’s Place. The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation was created in response to the crisis Leeza’s family experienced after her mother's diagnosis with Alzheimer's. The foundation offers supportive services to those affected by memory disorders through its community outreach centers called Leeza’s Place.
The culture of Paul Mitchell is one of caring, contribution, and happiness in every area of life. So as Kate approached her 25th birthday, she decided to use this event to bring attention to Leeza’s Place as well as give back in her life.
Kate is auctioning her 25th birthday on eBay to raise money for Leeza’s Place and to give her an extra year to accomplish 25 acts of kindness. Kate said, “If someone wants a second chance at their lost youth or maybe someone wants to give someone a birthday that they may have forgotten, this could be a fun gift.”
Along with a certificate of authenticity for the birthday, bidders will receive $100 in gift certificates from McCormick and Schmicks Seafood Restaurants and a nice selection of Paul Mitchell hair care products.
The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation is an officially recognized charity through eBay Giving Works so bidders can be assured that the charity will receive the donations. 50% of the proceeds will go to Leeza’s Place and the rest will go to fund some of her 25 projects.
