NEW YORK -- Anthony John Gray's pixilated series called “eyecons” continues his self taught journey of Spiritual Logic. Like many of Mr. Gray’s works, these pixilated oils are large in scale and never fail to stimulate. The most recent oil involves a pixilated nude and is called: Mr. Smiley meets Sexy Rexy; it spans 50" x 35.”
Others in the series include a pixilated hand of the jazz legend John Lee Hooker called “Sugar Mamma,” and there is also a pixilated biblical and spiritual Jesus on the crucifix; called “The Fountainhead.”
Known for his abstract geometrics, Mr. Gray keeps his language of “spiritual logic” alive with his pixilated perspective. Mr. Gray says of the eyecon series, “One painting always leads to the next as it is a progression and introduction of new small areas that open up the possibilities of further exploration within yourself, and the techniques needed to best express on a personal basis makes the painting that continues to develop before you.”
