The new website WiFiHotspotScout.com was launched today providing information on thousands of wireless internet locations in over 40 countries.
The website was born out of the need of its founder to locate internet access points while travelling. As many travellers can attest, "Finding somewhere to get online in a strange city can be a daunting task". WiFiHotspotScout.com hopes to make this simpler by providing detailed information on both free and paid WiFi access points, along with a map of the exact location. Hotspots listed on the site can be browsed through country/state/
WiFiHotspotScout.coms' aim is to become the preeminent resource for locating wireless hotspots whether you are in New York City, Bangkok or outback Australia. An offline version of the database will be released as a Windows Desktop Application shortly, allowing travellers to browse for locations even while not connected to the internet. This should be very helpful for users when arriving in a new town and trying to locate an initial access point.
In the coming months the website will also be running a series of competitions for users who submit new locations or report dead hotspots.
