C.A.S.T., the Covert Alliance of Selective Termination is a secret government society dedicated to the sole purpose of exterminating the most dangerous criminals in the United States. For decades, this secret society of legal assassins has “silenced” thousands of threats ranging from serial killers to terrorists. One member, however, has been stricken with a rather dramatic plight. Regardless of his rank and skill in C.A.S.T., Vincent Putnam has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and regularly suffers from hostile hallucinations and vivid dreams. When his beloved trainer is murdered by an infamous serial killer thought to be dead, it is his duty to find the real murderer and bring his reign of terror to an end. Yet, while enduring his passionate mission, the forsaken member must weather his so-called illness and all of the mystification that comes with it. Upon receiving nightmares that name him “Protector of Children,” Putnam will challenge his own society to uncover his true purpose in life. This tale questions the boundaries between reality and insanity as well as the meaning of identity.
