It was during the moderate rule of Queen Isabel II that the industrial revolution went full steam ahead in Spain and started the economical growth of the Catalan bourgeoisie. One such bourgeoisie, a Josep Ma Bocabella I Verdaguer, founded an association called the Associacio Espiritual de Devots de Sant Josep, in 1866, which put into motion, the construction of an expiatory temple devoted to the Holy Family. Today this temple is known as the Sagrada Familia. Find a Barcelona Hotel (http://www.barcelonapoint.com/
Gaudi and the Familia Sagrada
Gaudi was the master architect of this building. He proposed a basilica plan that composed of five naves being a part of the main nave, a 170 m high dome, and transept having three naves. The construction and completion of the temple took quite a number of years and Gaudi was not the only architect used in this process. However, he designed most of the temple structure as it stands today.
