Westerville, Ohio, USA - More than 5,000 photos are on display at www.myfinalphoto.com, a Web site created by editorial photographer Gary Gardiner to display selected photographs since leaving The Associated Press in 2004. Gardiner reached the 5,000 mark last week with a photo of youngsters playing baseball with a rainbow arcing crossing the outfield following a storm.
The MyFinalPhoto.com collection ranges from personal portraits of family and friends to displays of portrait, commercial and editorial work for a wide variety of clients. What began in 2004 as a personal project to document his daily work after more than 30 years as a newspaper and wire service photographer evolved into a complex collection of photos that mark not only his daily creative efforts. They also reflect the variety of news events spanning the more than 5,000 photos and collects examples of Gardiner's photography into a single location for browsing.
"My last few years at the wire service were confined to working a desk. I missed daily photography,"
Available on the site is a Google Gadget showing a new photo every day. The gadget may be embedded in personal pages, MySpace, Facebook and reader's blogs. Also shown is an embeddable slideshow of Gardiner's photos at the Photoshelter Collection.
Photos at the site may be licensed for editorial and commercial use through SmallTownStock.com or direct links below each photo.
Viewers at myfinalphoto.com sort through the collection by year, month and day using thumbnails images to make selections.
